In response to the editorial cartoon in the Sun Journal Jan. 27, if the cartoonist was striving for equality he should have realized that if one were to strip those 85 richest of everything and divide it among the 3.5 billion other people on Earth, it would come to about $485 each.

The cartoon was offensive.

Why are rich men usually depicted as corpulent white men, smoking a big cigar? That promotes class and race envy and a sense that the well-to-do don’t deserve what they have, never mind the work and time it took to get there.

Cartoonists don’t feel the same about sports, movie or TV stars who live a lavish lifestyle. It is only the business rich who are targeted.
