1926 – 2014

AUBURN — Juliette L. Bernier, 88, of Webber Avenue, wife of the late Leo R. Bernier, died Friday, Jan. 31, at the Hospice House in Auburn with her family by her side.

Born in Blackstone, Mass., the daughter of the late Anthony F. and Eldora Y. (Bachand) Lawrence.

She had been a resident of this community since 1948, and besides being a homemaker she had worked at the former Bradlees department store as a clerical office worker until her retirement in 1991.

She was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She loved to travel with her husband, enjoyed swimming at the YWCA with her friends and could always be counted on being a babysitter for her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Helene Bernier and her companion, John Sprague, and Denise Chaput, all of Lewiston; two sons, David Bernier and his wife, Rachel, of Sabattus and Leo A. Bernier and his wife, Diane, of Minot; a daughter-in-law, Doris Bernier of Auburn; two sisters, Sr. Theresa Lawrence of Nashua, N.H., and Madeleine Nasuti and her husband, Joseph, of Franklin, Mass.; a sister-in-law, Mary Kay Lawrence of Piscataway, N.J.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by a son, Daniel Bernier; two grandsons, Mark Bernier and Brian LaFrance; a brother, Dr. Francis Lawrence; and by a sister, Dorothy Mousseau.
