1927 – 2014

LEWISTON- Loretta Blanche Arsenault, 86, formerly of Prospect Street, succumbed to dementia and passed away peacefully at d’Youville Pavilion on Sunday morning, Feb. 2, with her loving and special son, John, by her side.

She was born in Lewiston, March 13, 1927, one of seven children of William and Marie Louise (Langelier) Meservier. At a very young age she went to work in the mills to help her parents and family. At various times throughout her life she was employed at other establishments; such as, Paragon Glass and lastly Montello Manor where she was known to her coworkers as smiley. Loretta brought sunshine into every room and happiness to all who met her. She shared an unconditional love that was uncommon.

She married Joseph A. Arsenault on Sept. 6, 1948. Joseph passed away on Aug. 13, 1970. She dedicated her life to raising her eight children after the death of her husband. She was an amazing mother and friend to her children. Loretta was a special friend to all and was considered a Mom by many others in addition to her own children. She just loved to live life. Her smile was infectious and will sadly be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by three sons, Anthony, Raymond and wife, Doris, and John and wife, Christine, all of Lewiston; four daughters, Suzanne Harvey and husband, Brian, of Rumford, Theresa Martin and husband, Brian, of Turner, Linda Waters and husband, Chet, of North Carolina and Janet Blanton and significant other, Tommy Harrelson, of North Carolina; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Nel Meservier and wife, Janine, and Armand Meservier and wife, Diane, all of Lewiston; three sisters, Theresa Beaulieu of Auburn, Claudette Caron, Jeanine St.Pierre and husband, Claude, of Lewiston; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

It comforts us to know that she is now with her husband, Joseph, and her son, Donald; as well as her sisters, Rita Bazinet and Lucienne Giasson; and her special sister-in-law and best friend, Lillian Arsenault. Loretta was also predeceased by her parents; twin girls, Sally and Suzie; her daughter-in-law, Constance Arsenault; and other relatives.

Loretta’s family would like to thank the professional staff at d’Youville Pavilion and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for the wonderful care she received during her final days.
