AUBURN — Auburn Adult and Community Education is taking registration for spring courses, including the following two opportunities to start a new, outdoor hobby.

Insight into beekeeping: Provides information to anyone considering the hobby of keeping honeybees, to help them decide if beekeeping is right for them. Covering start up costs, equipment, time commitment, diseases and a glimpse of a year of beekeeping. (B. Richardson/C. Armstrong). Tuesday, Feb. 11, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. $12.

Beekeeping 101: Learn the art and science of beekeeping. Chris Rogers of Backwoods Bee Farms will help you get started on your own adventure in beekeeping. Class runs for five weeks starting Monday, Feb. 24, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. $50.

Auburn Adult and Community Education can also assist in launching a new career. This semester the program has teamed up with the Arthur Gary School of Real Estate to offer the Maine Sales Agent Course. This course is approved by the Maine Real Estate Commission and complies with all education requirements for the Sales Agent license. Starts Feb. 13 and ends March 18. Class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Class dates: Feb. 13, 15 and 25, March 1, 4, 6, 8, 11, 13, 15 and 18. Cost is $395.

Anyone who still needs to complete their high school diploma should contact the office. Auburn Adult and Community Education has started the HiSET test, which has replaced the GED in Maine.
