EUSTIS — A public informational workshop is scheduled to discuss the process and guidelines to apply for a grant or employment skills training under Franklin County’s unorganized territory TIF program.

The meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at the Eustis Community Center.

The tax increment financing district was established in 2008 in connection with the Kibby Wind Power Project in northern Franklin County to provide assistance to the developers and help increase economic development in the unorganized territory.

The county stands to gain $4 million over 20 years to be used in various areas. Some of the money will used to provide grants for projects and employment skills training in the unorganized territory. More than $242,000 has been awarded to organizations and residents to help increase economic development.

Projects approved so far include improving trails and scenic byways.

Alison Hagerstrom, executive director of the Greater Franklin Development Corp. in Farmington, is overseeing the TIF funding process for grants and employment skills training. A group of unorganized territory residents are on a committee that reviews applications and makes recommendations to Franklin County commissioners.

All potential applicants are asked to attend the meeting to learns the process and guidelines.

A letter of intent to apply for grants in the fourth round of funding projects is due March 17. Grant applications are due May 7.
