PERU — The Peru Historical Society meeting has been postponed until April 10.

College planning workshop Feb. 13

WILTON — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host a free workshop, “Essentials of College Planning,” for adults 19 and over at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at Wilton Career Center, 865 US Route 2 East.

All MEOC services are free and include GED/SAT preparation, college planning, referrals/advocacy, career advising, financial aid advising, college admissions process and application fee waivers for qualified adults.

The interactive workshop outlines the four steps in the college process: admissions, financial aid, career planning and study skills.

Thomas College rep to visit Mt. Blue

FARMINGTON — A representative from Thomas College will visit Mount Blue High School at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14.

The representative will meet with students to discuss Thomas’ academic and sports programs, and its residential life opportunities.

Moonlight snowshoe walk

WILTON — Celebrate the winter “Snow Moon” on Saturday, Feb. 15, on a moonlight snowshoe walk in Kineowatha Park.

All are welcome to join the members of the Wilton Conservation Commission at 7 p.m. to explore the park’s grounds and trails along the shore of Wilson Lake. Cross country skiers are welcome to use the park recreation fields.

Meet at Kineowatha parking lot on High Street. No flashlights are needed as long as the sky is clear and cloudless. Hot cocoa will be available after the trek.

Montessori preschool holding fundraiser

KINGFIELD — Maine Mountain Children’s House, a nonprofit Montessori preschool in Kingfield, is hosting a FUNdraiser at The Rack BBQ, on the Sugarloaf Mountain access road, at 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16.

With live music from the Maine Mountain Band, face painting, henna tattoos and dancing, the event welcomes all ages.

Donated auction items include an overnight stay at Nestlewood Inn, a guided fly-fishing trip, a Patty Ritzo painting, a two-night stay at Sugarloaf Hotel with ski passes, Liz Stephany Jewelry, Cynthia Orcutt Photography and more.

Funds raised will go to support the Maine Mountain Children’s House, founded by Samantha Wright who was killed in a car accident on Jan. 6.

Interim Director Bethany Mahar said, “We’re all so grateful that the community has come together to honor our friend, Sam who practiced the kindness taught at school. This FUNdraiser will not only help accomplish Sam’s short- and long-term goals for the school, but it will also be a lot of fun for the students.”
