SUMNER– Two bodies from a Barrows Road fire in Sumner last night have been found, according to the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The fire marshal’s office said that the bodies were found in a state beyond identification beneath the rubble of the destroyed home. They have been transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta for autopsies and further identification.
A middle-aged brother and sister lived in the home, and fire investigators believe that the bodies found may be the two residents. The missing victims of the fire were 52-year-old Robert Keach and and his 60-year-old sister, Della Keach.
Fire investigators say that finding the cause of the fire will be difficult because of the extensive damage left to the home. The home was mainly heated by a wood stove, and there is no identification of working smoke detectors.
