Lewiston Fire Department and United Ambulance crews strap a 3-year-old boy to a backboard after the child was reportedly struck by a pickup truck just before noon Thursday on Walnut Street near the intersection with Shawmut Street. Police said the boy was conscious at Central Maine Medical Center where he was undergoing tests. The driver was being questioned Thursday afternoon by police at the station. The street was blocked off while police reconstructed the accident.
