AUGUSTA — The “Concerts at Jewett” Series sponsored by the University of Maine at Augusta College of Arts and Sciences and UMA Senior College will present

(mezzo soprano) and Bridget Convey (pianist) in the concert “A Musical Journey Around the World” at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 9, at UMA Jewett Auditorium. (Snow date: March 23).

The concert will feature songs from France, Spain, Germany, Czechoslovakia, and America among others and will include a world premier composition of Maine composer Don Stratton.

Morris, a singer recognized for her warm mezzo voice and her ability to sparkle on stage, is admired for her versatility – from the concert stage to the operatic arena, in intimate jazz settings, and French cabaret. Since moving to Maine, Morris has performed numerous times at the Franco-American Heritage Center in Lewiston, and was named the conductor of the CODA Chorus in Winthrop.

Convey has performed throughout the United States playing music of diverse periods and styles. Since relocating to Maine, she has performed in Central and Southern Maine and works regularly with Maine Music Society’s Androscoggin Chorale.
