The groups performing include Flight 317, a group of music students from 317 Main Community Music Center in Yarmouth; The Royal River Honey Badgers, a student group from North Yarmouth Academy; the Franklin County Fiddlers, a group of string players from Mt. Blue High School in Farmington; and the Johnny Beasts, a student group from Merriconeag Waldorf School in Freeport.

The four groups perform music from many traditional acoustic genres including bluegrass, Franco-American, Celtic, folk, and more. Several of the students in these groups have been selected to participate in the annual Maine Acoustic Festival in March.

Now in its second year, the Maine Acoustic Festival is a student music festival promoting the traditional music styles that have helped shape Maine’s culture. Students from all over the state will gather in Yarmouth for three days of instruction and rehearsal with professional musicians, culminating in a final performance on Saturday, March 29 at Hannaford Hall in Portland.
