MEXICO – The Police Department will host a neighborhood watch meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, at the police station, Chief Roy Hodsdon said.

Reserve officer Cam Barrieau will be the guest speaker, who suggested the program.

“Cam came up to me last spring, around the time the burglaries in town were increasing, and proposed the idea of a neighborhood watch for our town, and I told him that I thought it’d be a great idea,” Hodsdon said. “It’s always been in the back of our mind as something we should do.”

He said there may be discussion on kick-starting a program that would place all interested elderly residents on a list that would allow police officers to check on them during the winter or during a storm.
