In his economic plan, “Maine Made,” Rep. Mike Michaud has proposed free tuition for all second-year students attending the University of Maine System colleges. I believe he did that in order to get the student vote.
Students that he is targeting now should realize that if and when such a proposal becomes law, they will already be out of college and paying increased taxes to pay for that freebie to a younger generation.
When will people learn that nothing is free and someone always has to pay?
What he should be promising is a better government for all.
What happens when the government runs out of other people’s money?
