100 years ago, 1914
W.R. Jackson of North River Road, Auburn, has a hen that worked overtime recently with the result another egg record is chalked up. This egg is reported to be eight and three-sixteenths inches in circumference and six and one-eighth inches diameter. Some egg for one egg.

50 years ago, 1964
Michael, nine, and Donna, 12, children of Mr. and Mrs. John I. Coburn of Lake Street, Sabattus, miraculously saved the life of their young playmate and neighbor, Tommy Davin, eight-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John T. Davin Jr., shortly before noon Sunday. According to Mr. Davin, the children had been playing on a toboggan on the ice of Sabattus Lake about 30 feet from the shore when Tommy broke through at a point where the water was over his head. Michael, much smaller in stature than his friend, with the help of his sister, was successful in pulling the youngster out of the water.

25 years ago, 1989
The canal adjacent to the Worumbo Mill at Lisbon Falls, and the power house will take on a new look in the spring. The Department of Environmental Protection recently granted Miller Hydro permission to demolish the power house and fill in the old canal with rock and gravel. The firm plans to loam and seed the area when complete.
