BRUNSWICK — Local police Wednesday charged a 32-year-old Rangeley woman with possession of heroin and Suboxone, after searching her car after it veered off Route 1.

Nancy E. Shaffer told officers she was lost and tired when they found her 2003 Mazda off the highway near Cook’s Corner at 11:13 p.m. Wednesday, according to Deputy Chief Marc Hagan of the Brunswick Police Department.

Police determined that Shaffer was subject to a search based on previous bail conditions. Officers searched her car and turned up approximately three grams of heroin and Suboxone strips, Hagan said.

Shaffer was being held at the Cumberland County Jail in Portland without bail Thursday morning. She is scheduled to appear in Cumberland County Superior Court on April 22.
