AUBURN — A local man was arrested Friday morning at his home and charged with possessing sexually explicit material, Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said in a news release.

, 67, was taken into custody just after 11 a.m. at his home on Allen Avenue, McCausland said. Detectives found hundreds of images of very young children on his computer, although none were believed to be from Maine, he said.

Jackson is a truck driver and his home is near the Auburn Middle School, McCausland said.

The Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit made the arrest. Jackson was taken to the Androscoggin County Jail where he was being held on $5,000 cash bail as of Friday evening.
