AUGUSTA — The 25th annual Maine Women’s Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Gala Silver Anniversary Celebration will be observed on Saturday, March 15, at the Richard J. Randall Student Center, University of Maine at Augusta. The ceremony is held in observation of Women’s History Month.

Social hour will be from 5 to 6 p.m. and a buffet at 6. Because there is limited seating, prepaid reservations at $50 are required. A silver anniversary celebration following the buffet will introduce previous inductees.

The 25th induction will honor two new inductees:

Laurie G. Lachance of Manchester, first female president of Thomas College, first female president of the Maine Development Foundation, and first female state economist.

Patricia E. Ryan of Brunswick, former executive director of Maine Human Rights Commission and founding member of Maine Women’s Lobby.

The nomination of Lachance was sponsored by James D. Libby of Thomas College. The nomination of Ryan was sponsored by Danna Hayes of Maine Women’s Lobby.

The Maine Federation of Business and Professional Women established the Maine Women’s Hall of Fame in 1990, to honor women who have made an outstanding contribution to improving opportunities for all Maine women. The BPW/Maine Futurama Foundation and the University of Maine at Augusta are co-sponsors.
