- Auburn firefighters douse remaining hot spots in the front entryway of 220 Gamage Ave. in Auburn on Monday morning. Firefighters suspect improper disposal of smoking materials was the cause. They were able to prevent the blaze from spreading in the two-family building. Upstairs tenants smelled smoke and, along with the first-floor tenants, poured water on the flames. Responding police officers used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire, which had spread into the walls of the entryway. Firefighters knocked down those flames and brought the fire under control before noon. No injuries were reported.
