WILTON — A local driver who failed to yield for a loaded pulp truck at Routes 2 and 4 on Burgess Hill on Monday morning was lucky, Wilton police officer Andrew Hardy said.

Travis Pinkham, 29, of Wilton was driving a Ford Focus north on Route 4 and Marc Gagne, 29, of Berlin, N.H., was driving a Peterbilt truck east on Route 2 when the two collided at the intersection. The truck is owned by JML Trucking and Excavating of Errol, N.H.

Pinkham thought he could move into traffic on Route 2, Hardy said. If the truck had hit closer to the middle of the car, it might have been a different story, Hardy said.

No charges are expected, he said.

Members of Wilton Fire Department and East Dixfield Fire Department helped at the scene.
