LEWISTON — Joint funeral services honoring the lives of both Gladys St. Marie and Joseph Michaud, who were both in-laws to one another and who also died on the same day, Monday, Feb. 24, were held together Saturday, March 1, with the Rev. Irenee Richard, OP officiating at the Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home. During the service, lead vocalist and guitarist, Mark Leino, who is Joseph’s son-in-law, along with guitarists who were Joe’s grandsons, Gerry and Josh Leino, as well as vocalists, Miriam Leino, Karen Carlson and Diane Lopez, all played and sang the following musical selections during the service, “Amazing Grace,” “The Twenty-Third Psalm,” “How Great Thou Art,” and “Be Not Afraid.” The New Testament was proclaimed by Joseph’s grandson, Taylor Leino. The Prayer of the Faithful was recited by Glady’s son-in-law, Tony Viscione. Words of remembrance on behalf of Gladys were shared by her granddaughter, Morgan Parent. Words of remembrance shared on behalf of Joseph were shared by his son-in-law, Mark Leino. At the conclusion of services, Joseph’s Army buddy, Henry Leino, sang in tribute to his friend, “Be Still My Soul.” and ending his song with a final salute to his buddy, a fellow veteran of World War II. Graveside committal prayers for Gladys and military honors for Joseph will be held later in the spring at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta. At the conclusion of services all were invited to greet both the St. Marie and Michaud family members with a personal condolence. Then all in attendance were invited to a reception of fellowship at the Pelletier Banquet Facility at CJ Hall in Lewiston. Arrangements by Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home, Lewiston.
