TURNER — Town Manager Scott LaFlamme has resigned to accept the position of director of community development in Bath starting the first of April.

Selectmen accepted his resignation, with regrets, after an executive session Monday night.

“Leaving is an emotional event,” LaFlamme said. “It is difficult to leave a position where the board and town have been so supportive.”

He was named town manager in May 2012 and continue until the end of March.

Board Chairman Angelo Terreri said, “Scott is leaving on good terms. We are sorry to see him go, but he has received an offer that fits well with what he is trained to do.”

LaFlamme will be responsible for economic growth, neighborhood revitalization, downtown development, business growth and retention, and community growth. He will report to the city’s director of planning and development.

LaFlamme has a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Maine.

Selectmen will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Town Office to discuss options for a replacement.
