PARIS — A convicted sex offender from Greenwood is facing three charges of sexually assaulting a minor.

Alden R. Mason, 42, pleaded not guilty to three Class A gross sexual assault charges in Oxford County Superior Court on Monday. He was granted a $5,000 unsecured cash bail. 

Mason is accused of engaging in a sex act with a child younger than 12 years old in Greenwood on three occasions between late October and December 2012. 

An Oxford County grand jury indicted him in December 2012. 

According to the Maine Sex Offender Registry, Mason was convicted of gross sexual assault in 1997 in Cumberland County Superior Court for assaulting a child younger than 14. He was sentenced to seven years in prison with all but two years suspended.
