1921 – 2014
AUBURN — Elianne “Lil” M. Samson, of Lewiston, died Tuesday, March 4, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin following a short illness.
She was born in St. Quentin, New Brunswick, Canada, on Dec. 27, 1921, the daughter of the late Cyrille and Anna (Michaud) Guerette.
She was educated in local schools. She worked at the Continental Mill for about 10 years and then in 1949 she left for Hartford, Conn., and went to work at American Standard.
On June 18, 1960, she married Edward Samson at St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church in Hartford and later in 1965 they returned to Maine where she was employed at Sableman Plastic Heel and Geiger Bros.
In 1980, she helped her husband in starting American Engraving and Awards.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband on their motorcycle as a member of the Maine Retreads XL+ organization all over the U.S. and Canada.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Samson of Lewiston; one sister, Rita Nowakowski of East Hampton, Mass.; a special friend, Janet Theriault of Lewiston; her favorite niece, Anita Tanguay and her husband, Gerald, of Lewiston; and many other nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Gerard, Patrick and Maurice Guerette; and by a sister, Marie-Jean Therriault.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Gordon, Dr. Austin and the nurses from 2 East and 4 East at d’Youville Pavilion and the staff at the Hospice House of Androscoggin for the loving and compassionate care they have given to Elianne.
