WINTHROP — A pajama-clad armed robber who held up a Winthrop convenience store earlier this week remained at large Friday, but police have gathered more critical information in hopes of landing an arrest.

Winthrop police Detective Peter Struck said Friday the hooded sweatshirt the robber was wearing advertises a bar in Lewiston.

The back of the man’s hoodie read “Support the Twins” and had a picture of a leprechaun doing a keg stand, the detective said.

“It’s from the Irish Twins Pub in Lewiston,” Struck said of the man’s shirt.

Struck believes the man could have visited the Main Street bar prior to the Tuesday morning robbery at Circle K.

Tips have been coming in daily, Struck said, but the robber remains on the loose.

The suspect is a white male in his early 20s standing between 5-foot-7 and 6 feet tall. In addition to the sweatshirt, he was wearing a white mask, bright green pajama pants and white sneakers and he has brown eyes.

Anybody with information on the robbery or the suspect’s whereabouts should call Winthrop police at 377-7227.
