Editor’s note: The meeting has been postponed until Wednesday, March 19, due to the predicted storm.

LISBON FALLS — Video footage taken in the early 1990s by Lisbon Historical Society president Al Smith will be shown at the society’s meeting on Wednesday, March 12. Narrated by Smith, assisted by Mert Ricker, the scenes were shot from the vantage points of the various routes into the town. Focusing mainly on the businesses of the time, there are also scenes from residential areas as well.

While several of the businesses are no longer operating, many others have undergone changes and upgrades over the years. The program illustrates how fast the changes come, and that what townspeople now assume to be well established and permanent can soon be transformed.

The program, open to the public, takes place at the Lisbon Historical Society meeting rooms in the MTM Center on School Street. Entrance and parking are at the rear of the building. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the business meeting and program begin at 7. Refreshments follow the program.
