LIVERMORE — Selectpersons accepted the Cemetery Committee’s recommendation Monday that the mowing contract stay with T&T Lawn Care of Livermore, Administrative Assistant Kurt Schaub said Tuesday.

The board did not take formal action, he said.

The company was the low bidder two years ago and has offered to continue its services at the same price as last year, which was $17,500 for April through November, he said.

The town has 26 cemeteries.

There is a clause in the contract that allows for renewal if a company’s services are satisfactory to the town, he said.

The Cemetery Committee believes it is not advantageous to the town to bid this contract every year considering it takes a contractor at least one season to perform well under the terms of the contract, and meet the standards required to maintain for veteran graves, Schaub said.

The practice in the past has been to bid this contract every three to four years and, provided a substantial increase is not requested in an off year, continue with the contractor, provided performance is at or above par, he said.

“We had a number of compliments on the job done in our cemeteries last year,” he said.

In other business, selectpersons accepted the resignation of Plumbing Inspector Tom Mitchell of Fayette.

“Tom served in that role for more than 21 years, and his efforts are deeply appreciated by the town,” Schaub said.

Code Enforcement Officer Richard Marble of Farmington was appointed plumbing inspector and Mitchell will serve as an alternate, he said.

“Richard is certified and has been plumbing inspector for the town of Farmington. Per state requirements, the plumbing inspector receives 75 percent of the permit fees collected,” he said.

The balance of permit fees is sent to the state.

Marble has been Livermore’s code enforcement officer for 16 years.
