AUBURN — Androscoggin Land Trust is hosting a series of monthly events to celebrate their 25th anniversary and encourage members and interested members of the public to get out on conserved land. This Explore the Outdoors! series is sponsored by Center Street Dental.

The third event this year will be an easy walk around Sherwood Forest from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 14. ALT planned this event thinking there would be signs of an early spring but with the amount of snow on the ground, this will now be a lovely walk with friends on a packed snow trail.

Participants are encouraged to wear warm, dry boots and may want to bring snowshoes if they have them. A flashlight or headlamp might also be a good idea.

Participants will meet at the end of 19th Street in New Auburn near Sherwood School on Sherwood Drive; there is plenty of parking on the road.

Upcoming events include:

* A trail hike along Gillespie Brook from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Purinton Homestead and Preserve, West Bowdoin. Hikers may see woodcock and owls.

* A botany nature walk from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 17, at Garcelon Bog, Lewiston.
