NEW GLOUCESTER — Registered voters who reside within the New Gloucester Water District will elect two trustees Monday.

Polls will be open from 3 to 7 p.m. March 17 at the Town Hall.

James Giffune is seeking a second three-year term. James Fitch is a candidate for the two-year term.

The Water District encompasses the area from Bald Hill Road at the New Gloucester Fairgrounds, including Wayfarer Village, to Upper Gloucester.

The $2.4 million project to build a public water system was approved by voters last year. Service mains have been laid and pressure tested for 50 families and business establishments in Upper Gloucester. The service connection work is expected to resume in May.

The pump station at the New Gloucester Fairgrounds is nearing completion, interim Town Manager Paul First said.

System permitting and completion is on schedule with an anticipated in early July startup.

The project is within budget.
