The story about the cat that “attacked” the family in Oregon was irresponsibly one-sided (March 12). The child pulled the cat’s tail. The cat is an animal and will respond. And I would probably be safe in saying that was far from the first time it happened.
The adults in that household need to take some responsibility for the cat’s welfare, as well as the child’s.
People need to stop blaming animals for being animals and start understanding how to live with them in our homes in a safe and responsible manner.
I also have to wonder how a child pulling a cat’s tail, and the cat responding as a cat, in Oregon warrants front page coverage in Maine, but that’s another story. No pun intended.
