AUBURN — A Massachusetts man was arrested during a traffic stop Sunday afternoon and charged with felony drug trafficking.

Local police making a routine stop on Washington Street at 4 p.m. for a traffic violation discovered 113 grams of crack cocaine and 237 grams of heroin hidden in a rental vehicle driven by Jean Valbrun, 25, of Lowell, Mass. He consented to having his vehicle searched, Deputy Chief Jason Moen said.

Valbrun was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated drug trafficking, Class A felonies, each punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

He was held Monday at Androscoggin County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail, according to a written statement released by Deputy Police Chief Jason Moen.

Police estimated the street value of the drugs at $75,000.

Valbrun was traveling with his two children, ages nine and one. Both children were released to a family member.

Lewiston police assisted Auburn police officer Bernice Westleigh at the scene of the stop.
