ALTON – There will be a potluck, open-to-the-public gathering at Happy Acres Hall from 5-9 p.m. This Friday, March 20 to mark Juniper Ridge Landfill’s ten years of operation, its past and its future.

According to Paul Schroeder, one of the event’s organizers, the potluck will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m., with a brief summary presentation on the landfill to follow; after that, the event will mainly be open mike, with attendees invited to reflect on their experiences over the past ten years and what may happen in the years ahead.

“There is no goal, just an opportunity to discuss the landfill,” said Schroeder. “It’s not going to go away, and how much bigger it may become is a concern. We also want people to be able to learn the status of current appeals.”

The event is sponsored by Orono Community Forums and Happy Acres Hall.
