RUMFORD — “Advance Directives: Let Your Loved Ones Know What You Want If You Can’t Tell Them” is the topic of a presentation set for Thursday, April 17, at Rumford Hospital.

Registered nurse Lisa Caillier will discuss advance directives and explain their importance in directing end-of-life care. Caillier will review the various decisions and options available, covering such topics as long-term care and pain control.

She will explain why an individual should document their wishes, and how family members are assisted if someone who has prepared advance directives is unable to communicate due to an accident or illness.

Caillier has been a registered nurse with Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice since 1994. In 2003, she became a nurse liaison, working with area referral sources to assist them and their patients in understanding and accessing home care services. Her presentations on advance directives and decision-making are informative and thorough.

The program will be presented from 2 to 4 p.m. in Conference Room A, on the ground floor at Rumford Hospital, 420 Franklin St.

Preregistration is necessary. Call 369-1151 and leave message to reserve a place at the presentation.
