1925 – 2014
LEWISTON — Louise M. Goding, 89, a resident of 102 Campus Avenue in Lewiston, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, March 21, at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion with her loving family by her side following a brief illness.
She was born in Buckfield, Jan. 19, 1925, the daughter of Fred and Ellen Rose (Lombard) Hyer.
She married the love of her life, Lawrence Lee Goding Sr., who predeceased her on Nov. 19, 1978. She raised nine children and was very proud to have been a “Silver Star Mother” with the Salvation Army, which signified that her son, Robert, dedicated his life and career as a Salvation Army officer.
Louise loved arts and crafts, word search and puzzles. She had a feisty, quick wit. She was also known to have a great sense of humor, was a hardworker who loved the simple pleasures in life and was always known to help those in need.
Survivors include three sons, Salvation Army major Robert Richard Goding and wife, Margaret, of Waltham, Mass., Michael Goding and partner, Lisa Theriault, of West GardIner, and Kenneth Goding of Lewiston; two daughters, Leona Tullo of Lewiston, and Mildred (Midge) Leblond and husband, Richard, of Lewiston. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Lawrence Sr., she was predeceased by four sons, Lawrence Jr., James, Donald and Richard.
Louise’s family would like to thank the staffs of both the Hospice House and St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion for the professional care and consideration given to our mother during her last days.
