BRIDGTON — IC has been stationed on Moose Pond since Feb. 12. This Maine winter must suit him as he continues to smile.

ICE OUT has been a contest and fundraiser for the Bridgton Community Center, located at 15 Depot St., since 2008. It provides programming, services and meeting spaces for residents of the Bridgton area.

Every year, usually in February, the ICE OUT platform with IC the mascot is placed on Moose Pond. Numbered tickets will be sold through midnight April 17, an extension due to continued winter weather. Tickets are $2 each or six for $10. Ordinarily the deadline is April 1.

People guess the date that the cylinder goes through the ice and exposes the ICE OUT sign. All tickets with the correct date will be put into a pool and the winner will be drawn from that pool.

Half of the net proceeds will go to the winning ticket and the other half supports programs at the BCC. The winner will be drawn within 10 days of ice out.

Tickets may be purchased at Black Horse Tavern, Campfire Grille, Harvest Hills, Easy Rider Snowmobile Club and the Bridgton Community Center. For complete rules and previous ice out dates, contact the Bridgton Community Center at 647-3116 or drop by.

Placing IC on Moose Pond were Fred Hammerle, Phil Blaney, Blaine Chapman, Bill Brockett, David MacFarland, Larry Scholz, Ed Parsons and Fr. Craig Hacker.
