OXFORD — Slippery conditions on Fore Street caused a rural U.S. Postal Service mail carrier to roll her Chevrolet Blazer onto its side Tuesday morning, according to the Oxford Police Department.

Rae Ann Kane, 35, was driving north at approximately 11 a.m. when the SUV hit a patch of ice and she lost control of it, police Officer Zane Loper said.

He said a front right slammed into the hardened snowbank on the side of the road, causing the SUV to tip onto its side in the middle of the driving lane.

Kane was unhurt and the vehicle did not sustain serious damage, Loper said. Although mail was strewn onto the street during the crash, it was all collected and delivered by another U.S. Mail driver, he reported.
