FARMINGTON — The Board of Selectmen appointed two newly elected RSU 9 directors to serve from now to July 1 when their terms begin.
Tami Labul was elected Monday as a write-in candidate to serve three years. She succeeds Robert Flick who recently died. His term ends June 30.
Kenneth Charles was elected Monday to serve two years. Last year, voters elected Eric Gilbert to the position. When Gilbert moved out of town last summer, selectmen appointed Stephan Bunker to finish the term, which ends in June 2016.
Bunker was elected to the Board of Selectmen on Monday, leaving the school board position vacant.
Town Manager Richard Davis recommended asking Labul to finish Flick’s term and Charles to take Bunker’s seat.
Labul has agreed to serve in the interim, Davis said Thursday. Although he has not heard from Charles yet, Davis said he “believed this was discussed with both candidates before the vote, and both were agreeable to serving.”
With the school budget sessions about to begin, the board wanted Farmington’s five seats on the board filled before the discussions and votes start.
Farmington’s other school board members are Claire Andrews, who was re-elected for another three-year term on Monday, Yvette Robinson and Iris Silverstein.
