People interested in becoming disaster volunteers for the American Red Cross can attend a free training that will take them from zero Red Cross experience to trained disaster services volunteer in just two days: April 4 from 6-9:30 p.m. (Snacks Provided), and April 5 from 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (Lunch Provided)

The Zero2 Hero program provides the training necessary to volunteer at a shelter or become a client caseworker and respond to local disasters, such as house fires.

“The vast majority of our disaster responders are volunteers,” says Larry French, Disaster Program Manager for the Mid Coast region. “We need a strong volunteer base to continue providing assistance to victims of fires and other disasters.”

Participants in the training will also complete all necessary paperwork to become an active volunteer within all of the Red Cross service lines. Sign up at MaineRedCross.org, or for more information, contact French at 207-729-6779, ext. 407, or larry.french@redcross.org.
