WEST PARIS — Selectmen on Thursday voted to keep a town plow truck that was damaged in an accident in January.

Town Manager John White told selectmen the damage done to the 2001 Sterling plow truck is much less than estimated by the town’s insurance carrier.

The truck was damaged when it rolled onto its side on Tuelltown Road during a Jan. 6 ice storm.

Two weeks ago, White said the insurance carrier qualified the truck as a total loss.

After further consultation with a local mechanic, White said the truck will be able to get an inspection sticker. The vehicle’s frame is not bent, White reported.

The insurance agency will give the town $16,000 to recoup for the damage, he said.
