LIVERMORE FALLS — Police say a Knapp Street resident was arrested Friday night on a felony charge of aggravated assault after hitting another man with a baseball bat.
James Thomas, 39, was arrested after neighbors reported an assault occurring on Knapp Street at approximately 7:30 p.m. Friday, police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said Monday.
The victim was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital by NorthStar Ambulance with a head injury, Steward said. He was treated and released.
Apparently the victim went to Thomas’ home and was told to leave, Steward said. The victim hung around the street, and Thomas went out with the baseball bat and took matters in to his own hands.
Thomas was taken to Androscoggin County Jail.
Livermore Falls police officer Daniel Chabot was assisted at the scene by officer Robert Samson and Jay police officer Nicholas Gulliver and Sgt. Troy Young.
