“On the Go with Barbara”: from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 8; instructor, Barbara Randall, traveler. She will share her best slides and stories from her travels around the world.
“Beyond the Mattress: Tips to Discover Found Money”: from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, April 17; instructors, Mary Dyer and Pam Crate, Finance Authority of Maine (FAME).
Learn the top 10 tips for managing finances, along with strategies for accessing additional resources and financial support, including a discussion of Maine’s college savings options for grandchildren.
“Health Matters: Senior Safety”: from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 22; instructor, Christine Draves-York, OTR/L, Central Maine Therapy Services. She will discuss and demonstrate fall prevention, adapting the home and medication management strategies.
“AARP: Smart Driver”: from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 23; instructor, AARP staff; cost, $20, payable to AARP; $15 for AARP members. Drivers 55 and above who complete the class are eligible for discounts on their auto insurance premiums for three years.
“What’s Happening to My Body As It Ages? How to Put Some Spring into Your Step”: from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24; instructor, Alan Verrill, MD, CMMC. There are many components that can contribute to good health as we age: exercise, nutrition, attitude, music, spirituality. Bring questions.
“Spring Jewelry”: from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, April 25; instructor, Sandi Godin; cost, $10 for supplies. Make a necklace with the fun designs of spring.
“Long-Term Care in the State of Maine”: from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 21; instructor, Sen. Margaret Craven, Maine Senate, Health & Human Services chairwoman. Craven will give an update on the bi-partisan long-term care bill being discussed.
“Maine Author Series”: author, Denis Ledoux; book, “We Were Not Spoiled: A Franco-American Memoir”: from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29.
The author grew up in a three-generation home with paternal grandparents who lived upstairs. He shares their lives, the important roles they played in his life, as well as the joys that can be found as we learn more about our own families.
“CPR for Seniors”: from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, April 30; instructors, Daphne Russell, AAS/CP/EMT-P, prevention and wellness coordinator, and Brad Gilbert, RN/BSN/NREMT-P, United Ambulance Service.
This American Heart Association Family & Friends CPR Course teaches the lifesaving skills of adult CPR, child CPR with breaths, and relief of choking in an adult, child or infant.
