Mothers, grandmothers, aunts or friends are invited to bring girls and their dolls to the house to enjoy refreshments and storytelling as a narrator spins folk tales from around the world. The Mansion will be decorated with dolls designating countries around the world as well as flags and international items.
Not only will attendees enjoy storytelling, punch or tea with pastries, but they will have an opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for “Isabelle” the American Girl doll of the year, and other doll items. Raffle tickets will be available throughout the tea.
Members of WLU have been busy designing, cutting and sewing doll clothing that range from overalls and sleep wear to formal dresses and outer wear. Wooden doll beds have been outfitted with mattresses, pillows and quilts. The clothing and beds are designed to fit an 18-inch doll and will be available for purchase at the Doll Boutique, located in the library and solarium of the clubhouse.
The tea is a fundraiser to enable the members of WLU to maintain the Mansion as a museum and historical community resource.
Admission is $10 per person; all seats are reserved. Visit www.womansliteraryunion.org for more details or call 207-619-2958 for availability of tickets.
