1928 – 2014

LEWISTON — Arlene L. Abbott, 85, died Saturday, April 5, at Central Maine Medical Center. She was a resident of Roxbury Road in Mexico.

Born in Mexico on Dec. 11, 1928, she was a daughter of James H. and Alice M. (Coffin) Goff. She was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1946, and a member of the Mexico Congregational Church and the State of Maine Pythian Sisters.

Arlene was married in Bethel on April 7, 1947, to Norman H. Abbott; he died in Rumford on Jan. 26, 2005.

Survivors include two sons, Chesley Abbott of Roxbury and Michael Abbott and his wife, Penny Lynn, of Cornville; two daughters, Peggy Marcoux and her husband, Gerry, of Dixfield and Jo-Ann Surette of Lewiston; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Norman; a daughter, Donna Rouse; three sons, James, Dennis and Kenneth; and a sister, Doris Pinkham.
