1937 – 2014
PORTLAND — Beverly Couture, 76, a resident of Jay, died Sunday, April 6, at Maine Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Farmington on April 22, 1937, the daughter of George C. Paul and Alice L. Alexander. Beverly was a 1955 graduate of Farmington High School. On June 28, 1959, in Jay, she married Emmanuel Couture and they made their home in Jay; he passed away July 9, 1997.
Beverly worked throughout the years at Norwalk Shoe, Bass Shoe and Cohan Shoe, as well as at LEAP, prior to her retirement in 1998.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting and various other crafts. Bev was a wonderful and caring person, and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Couture Braley, of Jay; sisters, Charlyne Silver of New York, Linda Brownrigg of Windham and Georgia Karkos and her husband, Buzzy, of East Wilton; two grandsons, Adam Ashlee and Seth Marshall; her great-grandson, Zayne Ashlee; great-niece, Nicole Amero and her husband, Mark Eric; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; and a grandson, Patrick Hatch.
The family would like to thank the staff of the cardiac ICU unit at Maine Medical Center in Portland for the outstanding care they provided for Beverly and her family while she was there.
