1923 – 2014

AUGUSTA — Norman William Duguay, 91, of Livermore Falls, died Sunday, March 30, at Maine Veterans’ Home in Augusta.

Norman was born on March 24, 1923, in the town of Jay, where he attended St. Rose Parochial School and Livermore Falls High School. He joined the U.S. Army in 1943 and was assigned to the 8th Armored Division, where he saw action in Europe during World War II. After the war, Norman worked at International Paper Co. for 42 years.

In 1950, he married Pauline Paré and together they had eight children: Gloria and husband, Craig; Irene Noyes; Dennis and wife, Lynne; Ann Miller; Janet and husband, Linwood; David and wife, Julie; Donald and wife, Doris; and Gail and husband, Joseph.

Norman was a member of the AMVETS, the VFW, the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus, holding various positions through the years, such as chaplain, commander, etc. Norman also enjoyed gardening (with the family running a vegetable stand for many years), hunting, fishing and golf, and especially family gatherings, which included many of their 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Laureat Duguay; a stepsister, Gabrielle; a brother, George; and a sister, Diane.
