TURNER — Selectmen decided Monday night to have town accounts audited at the end of the fiscal year in June, and to possibly include an in-depth audit of Leavitt Institute funds for the past 10 years.

New Town Manager Kurt Schaub, who began his duties Monday, attended the meeting.

The board considered whether to have a town audit done now, because of the change in town managers, but no one thought it was necessary.

Selectman Ralph Caldwell asked for an in-depth audit of Leavitt Institute funds for the past 10 years, saying he was concerned that revenues may have been accidentally posted to other town accounts. It was agreed to consider having the accounting done in conjunction with the annual audit in June. Treasurer Annette Roy said she would provide Caldwell with current details of Leavitt Institute revenue.

Selectman Kurt Youland said there’s a need to change keys to the Town Office and to have a better accounting of them. The board voted to get new locks with keys. Panic buttons will be installed in the Town Office. The building has security cameras.

Assessor Mike O’Donnell of John E. O’Donnell & Associates of New Gloucester presented a bill for $15,000 for changing the computer assessing software from Northern Data Systems to TRIO Systems. He said he thought former Town Manager Scott LaFlamme wanted to switch, so O’Donnell and his programmer made the conversion.

O’Donnell said he was sure it would cost more than the $8,000 LaFlamme had approved.

After an executive session, the board offered O’Donnell $12,000, which O’Donnell said his office would consider.
