FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Bert Nadeau, a longtime resident of Hanover, N.H., passed away on March 18 at the age of 76, having borne the burden of Parkinson’s for some years preceding.
He was one of six children of Aime and Yvonne (Charpentier) Nadeau of Lewiston. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1955, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University in 1959 and a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in 1967.
For over three decades as an associate professor in the department of psychiatry at what was then Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, N.H., Bert played a key role in establishing the local community-based mental health organization.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Dixon; his son, Nils Nadeau; his daughter, Katrina Schultz; his stepdaughters, Jessica Novey and Hilary Daly; and nine grandchildren; as well as his siblings, Joan Clark, Maurice Nadeau, Butch Nadeau and Dee Lacasse.
