WOODSTOCK — The Board of Selectmen will continue discussion Tuesday on forming an ad hoc committee to decide the future of the old Union Church in South Woodstock.

The board will meet at 5 p.m. April 15 at the Town Office conference room.

Town Manager Vern Maxfield said Monday he will advise the board there are three residents interested in serving on a committee.

“We haven’t set a date yet for the committee’s first meeting, but we will be discussing that during the selectmen’s meeting,” he said.

Discussion on the church began during the annual town meeting March 24. Voters originally were asked whether to raise and appropriate up to $4,500 to make repairs to the s granite foundation. Several residents said they wished to see the church repaired; some said they believed the building should be sold or torn down.

Residents voted against raising the money and voted to form a committee to figure out what the most prudent course of action would be.

In other business, selectmen will also hear a request from the Telstar Regional High School senior class in regards to Project Graduation. It’s an annual request, Maxfield said.
