FARMINGTON — Applications for the Annual Franklin County Chamber of Commerce David Robie Scholarship are now available. The scholarship is named after the late David Robie, who played a key role in the establishment of the scholarship during his time on the Chamber board, as well as in presenting this scholarship each year.

This year, one or more scholarships will be available to Franklin County residents to encourage continuing or higher education of students going to school for a new career or new skills training.

This scholarship will be awarded to a resident planning to, or currently attending an accredited, post-secondary school. This includes 2014 high school graduates, current full-time college students or other residents returning to school. A high school equivalency test (GED) is acceptable. Scholarships are open to residents of Franklin County who have resided in the county for at least the prior 12 months.

The scholarship is funded by the annual Franklin County Chamber of Commerce & Seth Wescott Scholarship Golf Classic held each fall at Sugarloaf Golf Club. This year’s event will take place Sept. 12.

Applications are available at www.franklincountymaine.org (in the “Chamber Information” section, under the “Chamber Programs” link), or at the guidance offices of the five high schools in Franklin County. Applications and supporting materials are due no later than Friday, May 9, at 4 p.m. An application may also be requested through the Chamber by emailing Erin Arthers, executive director, at [email protected].
