Canton Parks, Trails clean-up

CANTON — Canton Parks and Trails clean up day is Saturday, April 26. The rain date will be May 3.

Participants will meet at the Canton Heritage Park at 9 a.m. Volunteers are needed to help. For more information call Thomas Adley, 597-2168.

Free clothing giveaway

NORWAY — A free clothing giveaway will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 26, at the Norway Grange Hall.

Deering Memorial United Methodist Church and Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church have teamed up with the Norway Grange to offer this event coined as the 3-C giveaway, providing free clothes, cookies and coffee. There is also a limited amount of new socks and underwear as well as some household and bedding articles.

This event is open to anyone needing clothes or who simply would enjoy a time of fellowship of coffee, cookies and great conversation. There is no income eligibility required.

Finnish Cemetery Association meeting

WEST PARIS — The Finnish Cemetery Association will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, at the Mission Congregational Church, Church Street.

Reports will be given and election of officers held. All those having connections with the cemetery are urged to attend. New members are welcome.

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners at the Lewiston Armory on April 14 were as follows: first/second/third tie, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe, Mary Trafton and Luke Merry and Les Buzzell and Paul Sherman.

Winners on April 15 were: first, Sharron Hinckley and Fred Letourneau; second/third tie, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe with Les Buzzell and Mike True; first in B, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe; second, Cynthia and Bill Clifford.

Games are played every Monday and Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the Seniors’ Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is always guaranteed and all bridge players are welcomed. Call Rosemarie Goodwin at 754-1431 for more information.

No game will be played on Monday, April 21, Patriot’s Day. The annual charity game for the American Contract Bridge League will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 22.

OCSWCD extends trout sale

PARIS — Due to the cold weather and slow snow melt, orders for delivery of rainbow, brown or brook trout to private ponds will be accepted through the month of May. All trout orders must be received by the end of May and the fish will be delivered directly to the buyer’s pond by Pierce Associates/Shy Beaver Hatchery of West Buxton.

A permit to stock from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is required and may be obtained by going to their website or by calling or stopping in at the Oxford County Soil & Water Conservation District office at 17 Olson Road in South Paris.
