1919 – 2014

PORTLAND — On April 14, the Lord called Jude Joseph Tanguay to join him. He was a resident of Steep Falls and was formerly of Rumford.

He was born Aug. 19, 1919, to Joseph and Marie (St. Pierre) Tanguay. He attended Rumford schools and started working in the CCC Camps during the Great Depression. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following the war, he worked for the Oxford Paper Co. in Rumford and retired from Boise Cascade Paper Co. as a machinist after many years of service. He was a member of the Robert Shand VFW Post No. 1641.

Jude enjoyed fishing and would often be found having tea with his siblings, Noah, Ted, Clara, Lydia and Annette, all of whom predeceased him.

He was married to Gisele Bertha Carrier, who predeceased him in 2013. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Tanguay-Dickman, of Gardner, Mass.; a son, Gregory Tanguay Sr., of Steep Falls; grandchildren, Gregory Tanguay Jr. of Steep Falls, Sarah Dickman of Gardner, Mass., and Joel Tanguay of Steep Falls; a great-grandson, Lukas, of Gardner, Mass.; and a sister-in-law, Charlotte Tanguay, of Lewiston.

He was predeceased by his wife, Gisele; three brothers, Ted, Noah and Clayton; and three sisters, Annette, Lydia and Clara.
