LEWISTON — Now that the good weather has arrived, isn’t it time for you to drag that new road bike out of the garage and get on it? The Maine Cycling Club has developed a series of supported rides for beginners to learn (or relearn) safe road riding techniques.

Rides will begin April 24 and will be held every Thursday thereafter throughout the spring and summer. Rides are 45-60 minutes in length and will be held to a comfortable pace.

Rides start at 6 p.m., leaving from the Bates College/Russell Street parking lot, near the outdoor track.

MCC club members will serve as ride leaders and will demonstrate safe group road riding techniques.

Families are welcome. Children under 14 must be accompanied by a parent.

There is no cost to participate and it is not necessary to be a member of the Maine Cycling Club to ride. However, nonmembers must sign a waiver of liability form.

All riders must wear a helmet. All types of bikes are welcomed.
